Why should our front gardens be any less beautiful and bountiful than our larger rear plots?

Here I’ve used a beautiful thick slate to match the grey woodwork of this house in Crouch End, teamed with architectural square box sentinals either side of the angled pathway. The whole effect is softened by billowy white planting throughout the spring and summer.

Taking the limelight right now are tulips, speckled Brunnera and delicate Dicentra, which light up this north-facing space. And with people stopping in the street to say how lovely this garden looks, I know both the plants and I are doing a good job!
