Modern or rustic, humble or towering over the grand marquee (yes, that’s you Diarmuid), there was some great inspiration to be had at Chelsea this year.

My favourites were the series of glossy, modern cedar-wood ‘arches’ of Joe Swift’s first show garden. It demonstrated how, carefully paired, the man-made and the planted (here Arbutus and Prunus ‘Amber Beauty’ against ) can echo and lift each other.
