edible and useful chelsea physic garden

Chelsea Physic Garden is a fascinating gem of a garden squeezed between two busy roads and the river in the heart of London. Opened in 1673 by physicians wanting to train apprentices in apothecary, it boasts 5,000 different edible, medicinal and historical plants.

On 23rd May it unveils it’s newest half acre of traditional potager-style gardens showcasing the world’s most useful plants – those doers that have been feeding, healing, clothing and delighting us through the ages. It’s interlinking spaces will include a mini-vineyard and a ‘living plant amphitheatre’… intriguing.

Here’s the website for more info, and here’s head gardener Nick Bailey giving a mini-tour in advance of the opening.
