highgate house views to garden

The winner of this year’s RIBA Manser architecture prize is a refurbed 60s Brutalist-style house in Highgate, London, and a winning element highlighted by judges is this successful relationship between house and garden.

Full-height windows act as a picture frame to a mix of meadow and woodland edge planting. The quiet, airy plant palette manages to soften the austerity of concrete and steel while also complementing this home’s architectural simplicity.

The feeling of being almost outside, all year round, is palpable.
